A Refreshing Green Smoothie

Do you find eating your greens a bit of a chore? Try blending them into a refreshing green smoothie.

Fresh greens are so refreshing and rejuvenating that you know you are doing something good for your body.

Not big on eating a lot of spinach? This quick recipe will surprise you. It is smooth and refreshing with a tropical taste. Just give it a try:

  • 2 cups fresh washed spinach
  • 1/2 cup fresh pineapple
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup vanilla yogurt
  • 1/2 cup of ice
Serving makes 1 large 16 oz. or 2 smaller 8 oz. glasses

Blend up and serve a nice big glass of this tropical, refreshing drink.

Try other greens like collards, kale, parsley, beet greens to see what you like best. Another option is to use different fruits, such as strawberries, mangos, bananas. It is fun to try different concoctions to see what you enjoy.

I find drinking smoothies for breakfast, snacks and deserts a great way to get those fruits and vegetables on a daily basis.

One cup of raw spinach has nearly 2 mg of iron, 4500 IU of Vitamin A, good potassium, magnesium and calcium along with other vitamins and minerals. Pineapples contain the digestive enzyme bromelain which allows for easy digestion. They contain some vitamin A and C as well as other minerals.* Bromelain is known to help reduce inflammation so enjoy it often. Try to buy organic produce whenever possible to avoid ingesting pesticide residuals in foods.

I hope you enjoy this green smoothie treat and hopefully you will be inspired to drink more fruits and vegetables as your body feels refreshed and energized.
