My Own Experience on the Raw Food Weight Loss Program
How I learned about the raw food weight loss program.....A few years ago a good friend of mine Amanda, who is a successful weight loss counselor told me about the raw food diet. She was personally finding this way of eating to be a very natural and a healthy way of losing weight as well as helping the body to heal itself as it received the nutrients and enzymes that it needed. Amanda invited me and a couple of her friends for the weekend to try this raw food diet together. I thought it sounded interesting and so I made my plans to go out to California to learn what this raw food weight loss way of eating was all about. I will admit that I was curious as well as not to sure about this raw food diet. Everyone brought a book on raw foods so we could share and learn more about it as we prepared the different dishes and hung out for the weekend. The different foods that we made tasted amazing, not like the usual salads and raw vegetable trays that I thought it would be about. We made raw smoothies, a raw lasagna, raw stuffed portabello mushrooms, raw chocolate pudding and cookies. I really was surprised to admit that the food that we prepared was really delicious. How could all these foods with nuts and avocado's and chocolate be a part of a raw food weight loss program I wondered. I stayed a couple of extra days with Amanda and we continued eating raw foods for about 4 days total. I was amazed how I felt. Measuring from a 1 - 10, I felt like about a 4 when I arrived for the weekend. When I left I was feeling like a 10 plus. I could not believe how energized I felt and how my stress and mind fog had disappeared. I also lost a couple of pounds as a bonus.* That was a great introduction for me to a raw food weight loss program a few years ago and I have continued to learn and to be mindful to eat raw foods on a daily basis. Since then I have become a student of the raw food principles and I have taken the Raw Food Certification course with the leader in the raw food world, David Wolfe. I am not a 100% raw foodist by any means, however I do strive to have some raw foods on a daily basis. I think it is another healthy way to prepare food that can be included in any healthy diet plan. I know that I will always look for ways to incorporate more quality raw foods into my daily routine because it helps me to maintain my goal weight and to keep my energy up throughout the day. I have found that the raw food weight loss with combining plant based proteins works for me. There is a growing community of people that are practicing a raw food diet. However, anyone who decides to follow this way of eating needs to take the time to properly learn about a raw food diet. It is important to make sure that you are getting enough proteins and may need to take some additional supplements. This way of eating isn't for everyone as we all have different needs. Working with a coach that is well versed in raw foods is advisable so that you have a thorough understanding as to what is involved and how to make sure that you eat a proper and nutritious diet. You might find a raw food community, read the many books that are out there on the subject, take a course, (check out the link in pink above for the Raw Food Certification course with David Wolfe). Remember to always check with your doctor when making any dietary changes in your diet. And best of all, have fun creating some raw cuisine dishes. Bon Appetite! *This may not be a typical weight loss for people in this short amount of time and I am not recommending that anyone dive in and do the raw food diet for 3 or 4 days. As with any diet or lifestyle change, you should consult with your personal health care professional before starting a new diet.
